Privacy policy

Effective date: August 31, 2026 · This policy covers industrialsupplyworld.com, operated by Mid-States Industrial Sales, Inc., 2424 Millennium Drive, Elgin, IL 60124 ("we," "us").

What we collect

Information you give us. When you place an order: name, billing and shipping address, email, phone, and payment details (processed by our payment providers — we never see full card numbers). When you join the newsletter: your email. When you use a contact, quote-request, or RFQ form: whatever you enter, such as company, ZIP code, equipment specifications, email, and phone.

Information collected automatically. Our site runs on Shopify, which collects standard device and usage data (IP address, browser, pages viewed) through cookies to run the store, prevent fraud, and produce statistics. We use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics 4) to understand how the site is used; these set cookies and receive usage data governed by their own privacy policies.

The categories, stated plainly. Identifiers (name, email, postal address, phone, IP address); commercial information (orders placed, products viewed, quote requests); internet and device activity (pages viewed, referring site, browser); geolocation only at the coarse level implied by an IP address or a ZIP code you type; and professional information you volunteer, such as your company and the equipment you run. We do not collect biometric data, precise location, or any of the sensitive categories under state privacy law.

How we use it

To fulfill and support orders; to answer questions and quote requests; to send the newsletter you signed up for (every email has an unsubscribe link); to improve the site; and to meet legal obligations such as tax records. We keep these purposes to what you would expect from a distributor you bought from — we do not build advertising profiles.

Quote requests and dealers

Some pages offer to get you pricing from equipment dealers. If you submit one of those forms, we share the information in that form only with the dealers named on the form, and only if you check the consent box — it is never pre-checked. Those dealers contact you directly and act as independent businesses. Tell us or them to stop at any time (replying STOP to a text or "unsubscribe" to an email works), and we honor it within ten business days.

We do not sell your information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California and other state privacy laws. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months. Sharing your quote-request details with the dealers you consented to is a service you asked for, not a sale — and it never happens without that checkbox. Aside from that, we disclose personal information only to: service providers who run the site for us (Shopify, payment processors, shipping carriers, email delivery); professional advisors; a buyer or successor in a merger or sale of the business; and authorities where the law requires it.

Affiliate links and advertising

Some outbound links are affiliate links; the retailer you land on may set cookies to credit the referral, under its own privacy policy. If display advertising appears on our articles, the ad network may use cookies to serve and measure ads; where required, we will present a consent or opt-out mechanism. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can unsubscribe from email at any time, ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask for a portable copy, and opt out of any sharing with dealers.

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states with consumer-privacy laws have those rights by statute, plus the right to opt out of sale or targeted advertising (we do neither) and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them — we will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or give you a lesser experience.

How to make a request: email support@industrialsupplyworld.com with what you want and enough detail for us to find your records. We verify identity before acting — usually by matching the email address or order details we already hold — and respond within 45 days, extending once by another 45 days if a request is complex, in which case we tell you first. An authorized agent may submit a request for you with written permission we can verify.

If we deny a request, we tell you why, and you may appeal by replying to that decision or emailing us with "Privacy appeal" in the subject line. We respond to appeals within 45 days, and if we deny the appeal we tell you how to contact your state Attorney General.

Cookies

Cookies that are strictly necessary keep the store working — your cart, sign-in and fraud prevention — and cannot be switched off. Analytics and any advertising cookies are optional; where a consent banner is shown, your choice there controls them, and you can also clear or block cookies in your browser. Blocking necessary cookies will break checkout.

Retention, security, children

We keep order records as long as tax and accounting rules require (generally seven years), quote requests as long as needed to handle them and for a reasonable follow-up period, and newsletter data until you unsubscribe. Data is stored with Shopify and our providers using industry-standard safeguards; no method is 100% secure. This site is aimed at businesses and tradespeople, is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information — if you believe a child gave us information, email us and we will delete it.
