Same tank, same pressure, same air delivery, same two couplers on the manifold. The two most popular pancake compressors in America are nearly identical machines sold under different store brands. Here is what actually separates them.

Where they are the same
Both are 6-gallon oil-free pancakes rated 150 PSI and 2.6 SCFM at 90 PSI, both weigh about 30 lb, and both carry two Industrial-interchange couplers so two people can work off one tank. Both run finish nailers, framing nailers in short bursts, tire inflation and blow-off, and neither will keep up with an impact wrench. Noise is the same class: loud.
Where they differ
- Price. The Ridgid is about $30 less at Home Depot right now. That gap moves with sales; the Craftsman was $169 before its current markdown.
- Warranty. Ridgid offers a lifetime service agreement if you register within 90 days of purchase. Craftsman is a 1-year limited warranty. For a compressor that will sit in a cold garage for a decade, that is the real difference.
- Store. Buy from whichever store is closer, because this is a pick-it-up-today purchase and returns are easier in person.
Buy the Ridgid if Home Depot is as convenient as Lowe's: lower price and the lifetime service agreement. Buy the Craftsman if Lowe's is your store; it is the same machine and you will never notice the difference in use. Either way, put the money you save into a 3/8" hose.
